Nyokabi Macharia – Kenya
Nyokabi Macharia, an acclaimed Nairobi-based thespian, has earned widespread recognition for her compelling performances across theatrical and screen productions. She holds a Master’s qualification in Music Theatre from London’s prestigious Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
She has notable roles in several successful Kenyan TV series, including *MaEmpress*, *Selina*, *County 49*, and Showmax’s *Crime and Justice*. She notably secured a leading role in Country Queen, marking Kenya’s inaugural Netflix series.
Her theatrical prowess has enthralled audiences, particularly in Too Early for Birds: Mboya, garnering her the Best Actress accolade at the 2025 Kenya Theatre Awards.
Her credits include the Emmy-nominated *Big Mouth*, Oscar-considered *Nawi*, and the Kalasha-winning *Chaguo*.
Her breakthrough performance as Wendo in Chaguo, currently streaming on Netflix, solidified her position as an emerging powerhouse in African cinema.
Besides acting, Nyokabi creates content, including personal and branded stories. She and actress Nice Githinji created Shorts From Africa to showcase authentic African storytelling.
INDEX ONE, a bold new play about millennials, debuts in July 2025. In her own words:
