We envision mobilising thousands of Eagles climate action activists, to unite in a non-partisan mission to address climate change. Elders must support youth as they mobilise to protect their future.

This will help to create a sustainable development future that benefits all children – our own and those across the globe. As stewards of the Earth, we understand that stewardship meaning extends beyond mere environmental protection to encompass social justice and equitable resource management.

The climate crisis intensifies existing racial and economic disparities, with roots deeply embedded in colonial exploitation. The extractive economy that has long dominated Africa treats indigenous territories as natural resources to be depleted and minority communities as disposal sites for waste.

This approach has devastating consequences for black, brown, and indigenous populations, sacrificing their wellbeing and future prospects while undermining democratic principles. The mismanagement of renewable resources and unsustainable practices must be transformed through collective action and policy reform.

We firmly believe that coordinated group efforts represent the most powerful tool for achieving the sweeping policy changes required to safeguard humanity within the necessary timeframe.

When we say humanity, we mean every single person – regardless of colour, gender, ability, origin, political views, economic status, age, or vulnerability level. This aligns with the sustainable development goals of reducing inequality and ensuring no one is left behind. The proper management of human resources and fostering of inclusive practices are essential components of this transformation.

Climate change poses an unprecedented global threat that particularly impacts the African continent. Elder Action Groups have emerged as crucial leaders in climate activism, championing policies that promote:

  • Expansion of renewable resources and clean energy infrastructure
  • Implementation of sustainable agriculture practices
  • Enhancement of environmental protection measures
  • Development of climate-resilient communities
  • Support for green job creation and sustainable economic growth
Dust storm in Africa
Dust storms become more common and more severe due to climate change.

Through their persistent efforts in raising awareness and mobilising communities, these groups are making tangible progress in:

  • Advocating for sustainable development policies
  • Protecting vital natural resources
  • Promoting environmental stewardship
  • Building intergenerational climate coalitions
  • Supporting vulnerable populations
  • Advancing climate justice initiatives
  • Fostering community resilience

They show how collaboration makes a real difference in addressing climate change. These activists connect generations in addressing climate change, combining traditional knowledge with modern science. Their leadership is essential in:

  • Ensuring equitable access to resources
  • Protecting indigenous knowledge and rights
  • Promoting sustainable lifestyle practices
  • Supporting climate education initiatives
  • Building cross-cultural climate partnerships
  • Advancing environmental justice
  • Strengthening community adaptation strategies

Through their dedication to environmental stewardship and social justice, Eagles Action Groups exemplify how concerned citizens can effectively contribute to climate solutions. Their work shows that age is no barrier to meaningful climate activism and that experienced voices are crucial in shaping a sustainable future for all generations.
