Creating a community of senior citizens across Africa to tackle the current societal, ecological, and leadership challenges.

Inspiration

The current state of the Earth is crucial and requires humanity to make a decision about its future. With increasing interdependence and vulnerability, the future holds both significant risks and opportunities.

This is stated in The Earth Charter.

In our modern African communities, the skills and knowledge of older individuals are often overlooked, leaving their accumulated wisdom from years of life untapped. This is a regrettable misuse of valuable human potential that has the potential to be used towards solving the pressing societal and environmental issues faced by our continent.

Our institutions, whether they are governmental or economic, are lacking in a significant manner. The systems that we rely on to tackle issues of social justice and the environment are in urgent need of rejuvenation. EAGLES – our most valuable human resource base, can assist in this.

Our goal is to create a change in culture where older individuals take on a more active role in imparting knowledge, experience and guidance within our society. We aim to be leaders of a social movement that brings together elders and all generations to facilitate positive changes for the benefit of all.

By doing so, we discover a fresh and fulfilling understanding of purpose in our existence, thus forming a novel senior society along the way.

Constitution

As senior members, we embrace the all-encompassing story that encompasses every living creature, bound together and interdependent in the oneness of the whole. We honour and nurture this web of life by promoting environmental soundness, fairness in society and the economy, and harmonious coexistence.

As experienced members of society, we acknowledge the growing global emergency jeopardising the balance of our environment and traditions, caused by humanity’s disregard for the value of life.

This crisis presents a pressing chance for us to envision a new future. By merging the teachings of our indigenous predecessors with the knowledge of all spiritual beliefs and advances in science, we rekindle our connection with all living beings and the planet. This inspires us to take compassionate and positive actions towards sustaining life.

As experienced members, we acknowledge our contribution to the issue and have made the decision to contribute to the resolution. EAGLES – our most valuable human resource base can be part of a necessary and urgent transformation.

Understanding the importance of being the catalyst for change, we humbly and fervently offer ourselves to serve wholeheartedly by identifying, cultivating and sharing our individual talents. We also commit to standing in solidarity with others who have dedicated themselves to fulfilling the vision of a thriving future.

In our role as Elders, we urge individuals of all generations to embrace the timeless principles of honouring, empathy, nurturing, fairness, honesty, fairness, non-aggression, and appreciation for all life.

Let us work together to cultivate a new society that embodies these values, implementing them into our actions and lifestyles to build a lasting and sustainable future for future generations.
