Back to: How to tackle the rise of the anti-gender movement

Those impacted by oppression know what is best for them and letting them tell their own stories by centering the voices of those most impacted is more likely to give justice to those harmed, and may also lead to better results.
This approach involves:
- Recognising and including voices and stories of those with lived experience, making sure they can speak for themselves, or in their own words.
- Removing barriers to inclusion so everyone can participate. Often those who hold power and privilege within a movement end up in positions of authority. So, for example, finding ways to do activism online includes those who cannot participate in direct action.
- Diversifying knowledge that informs activism. Start by looking at your bookshelf and consider which identities and experiences are represented.
